02/27/17 Letter

It's been a good week. We have a couple new investigators that are more prepared than I've seen before! They move quickly and are so accepting of the messages we bring. There are disappointments too. We had set an appointment with someone a week ago for Saturday night, so we went by. It had been sprinkling for a few minutes, but when we got to the door, the sky just tore open. We got soaked, and the person we were there to see wasn't there! So it felt like we were there for nothing. We weren't sure what to do next, so we went out one of our normal tracting areas and knocked around a little. Nobody was ready to listen, but we set an appointment with a new investigator. Then a member let us in and gave us some leftovers from her job at an Italian restaurant. We were able to share a video with them and our testimonies. We were able to bring the spirit to that little family, and they remembered the next day at church what we had talked about! Even though things don't turn out how we expect or want very often, good things come from our best efforts. This week I've been learning not to try too hard to control outcomes, but to enjoy the ride and be happy with the results God gives us. We don't have to have the answers right now. But we do have to have the faith to keep walking through the fog, with the hope that one day it will lift. I know that God's hand is in my life. I don't understand everything, but I know it's going to be okay. I know Jesus Christ is my Savior. I know the Book of Mormon is true, and that means that Joseph Smith was a prophet, and that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet. God is real, He is my Father, and He loves each of us more than we can understand because He knows us and knows our potential. I know these things by the power of the Holy Ghost which speaks to my heart. No number of doors slammed or sidewalk bible "discussions" can take that from me. This is where I need to be! I love you all.
Love,
Elder Hunt
PS sorry I'm so bad at taking pictures.
